About Us

Shahtersk Boarding School was established in 1959 as a state boarding school with a standard educational curriculum.  In 1969 it became a boarding school for children with neurological disorders.

Boarding school is located in an ecologically clean city district.  It consists of several blocks, including educational quarters, sleeping quarters, medical quarters, eating quarters, all interconnected with heated hallways.  The main building has its own boiler room, laundry, and garages.  Boarding school occupies 6.4 hectares of land, and has its own garden and fruit orchard.

Educational block contains 9 classrooms and 12 offices (Ukrainian language and literature, history, physics, mathematics, chemistry, Russian language and literature, music, workshop, aerobics, geography, speech therapy, and psychologist).  Each class contains about 20 students.  First through ninth grades are taught the standard curriculum of elementary and middle schools.  In addition to that, students participate in medical-rehabilitative activities and musical-rhythmical classes.

Educational and medical programs are organized by knowledgeable and high-qualified professionals: 32 teachers, 10 medical workers, and 60 support staff.

Educational and treatment processes in our school are regulated by the helpful regimen, rotating work and relaxation, strengthening the nervous system of each child.  During the day, children receive 5 courses of high-calorie balanced meals.

In our boarding school, we've done everything to make lives of our students fun and well-rounded.  In addition to classes, there are 20 crafts and hobby groups, almost all students participate in dance and school performances, discos, and art exhibitions.
