About Us

Shahtersk Boarding School
was established in 1959 as a state boarding school with a
standard educational curriculum. In 1969 it became a
boarding school for children with neurological disorders. Boarding
school is located in an ecologically clean city
district. It consists of several blocks, including
educational quarters, sleeping quarters, medical quarters,
eating quarters, all interconnected with heated
hallways. The main building has its own boiler room,
laundry, and garages. Boarding school occupies 6.4 hectares
of land, and has its own garden and fruit orchard. Educational
block contains 9 classrooms and 12 offices (Ukrainian language
and literature, history, physics, mathematics, chemistry,
Russian language and literature, music, workshop, aerobics,
geography, speech therapy, and psychologist). Each class
contains about 20 students. First through ninth grades
are taught the standard curriculum of elementary and middle
schools. In addition to that, students participate in
medical-rehabilitative activities and musical-rhythmical
classes. Educational and medical programs
are organized by knowledgeable and high-qualified
professionals: 32 teachers, 10 medical workers, and 60 support
staff.

Educational
and treatment processes in our school are regulated by the
helpful regimen, rotating work and relaxation, strengthening
the nervous system of each child. During the day,
children receive 5 courses of high-calorie balanced meals. In
our boarding school, we've done everything to make lives of
our students fun and well-rounded. In addition to
classes, there are 20 crafts and hobby groups, almost all
students participate in dance and school performances, discos,
and art exhibitions.
